I was invited by a friend of mine to the launch event of the new Mavrick 440 in Nagpur and since this is Hero’s first premium Mid-sized bike, I had to come and take a look at her.
(I did ride the demo Vehicle and we all know how demo bikes are treated so this experience could be different from a normal showroom-kept vehicle)
I also wanted to congratulate Hero MotoSport for the 2024 Dakar Rally. They made history by becoming the first Indian manufacturer team to secure a podium finish!
I personally love the front-end design of the Mavrick 440, with a circular headlamp, LED lights, a wide handlebar, and small tank extensions, it looks quite Muscular.
The only gripe I have for the design is that the rear portion of the bike looks quite odd (Still looks far better than that of the HD440X).
It feels confused and doesn't blend well, and when you see from the side, the front looks muscular but tapers to something odd at the rear, the only good-looking thing is the brake light, which looks good with the vertically elongated twin arrow-shaped DRL brake light at each side.
The quality level feels and looks good, the switchgear is nice and tactile, and some plastic parts were also quite good to touch, since the bike is made mostly of metal I couldn't find any weird welds or things hanging out, though that being said I personally don't like the way how the wires and cables from the handlebar are routed towards the back of the headlight, but given the pricing this is really good.
Also at the instrument cluster, there were two buttons that were a bit hard to press and I had to remove my gloves to press it as I had no idea if I was even clicking them and since the cables and wires are routed the way they are it makes it difficult to access it a bit. Other than that is a very neat and well-packaged bike.
She is powered by a 440cc Air-Oil Cooled fuel injected 2 valve Single Cylinder mill that churns out 27.36PS at 6000 rpm and 36 Nm at 4000 rpm mated to a 6speed transmission
All that power is moving a kerb weight of 187 Kg and to control all that mass she is sitting on 110/70-17 Front, 150/60-17 Rear which are suspended by Telescopic Front Fork, 43 mm, and 7-step adjustable twin shock at the rear.
To drop the anchors she is equipped with 320 mm front and 240 mm rear brakes.
And she holds up to 13.5 liters of fuel.
All this is packed around a Trellis frame.
Well, she comes with a good list of features,
The instrument console is all Negative lit LCD
ABS
All LED headlight, Tail Light, Indicators
Turn by Turn Navigation system
Tubeless Tyres and Alloy wheels (Top and Mid Model)
Gear shift Indicator
Connected X Secure -Geo-Fence, Vehicle Diagnosis, and Location Sharing. Track your vehicle
A good Exhaust Note
All these features Work Flawlessly and looks really good too, well Fortunately, and unfortunately, I didn't get to test the ABS (phew!).

Before showing up at the event I had only seen the bike online and I did like the design, and after seeing it in person, the top model Phantom Black, I was assured it looked better in person, with a nice muscular design and neo-retro looks, I loved it.
After taking in the beauty, I hopped into the Cockpit and instantly was blown away by how comfortable it was, wide and soft single-piece seat, and almost a perfect riding posture.
I am 5.7feet tall and I was really comfortable and wasn't tip-toeing
After turning on the bike, The instrument panel turned on, and the negatively lit LCD panel came to life, at first it kinda of reminded me of the old Triumph cluster,
But I was kinda disappointed with how small the tachometer was, I couldn't see the numbers, it was all to the left-hand side of the cluster and wasn't that visible, apart from that it was a good-looking cluster.
Once I cranked the engine, the exhaust note! Oohhh it was smooth and thumpy, a really good-sounding bike.
The clutch feel was light (thanks to the slip and assist clutch), and once I gave it the beans the Power Build Was Strong, It has a really strong Bottom and mid and a good Top end, Hero claims that she puts out 90% of the torque right from 2000 rpm! It certainly does feel like that.
There is some Buzz on the handlebar and the foot pegs, but they don't annoy you, and since this is an Air-Oil cooled engine I was feeling the heat at my ankle but nothing to bother you.
The suspension setup is quite good too, though the bike I was riding had the preload clicked at 2nd slot to make it a bit stiffer, the bike feels like a Roadster and it does a pretty good job of absorbing most of the bumps and bad patches, though the sharp bumps and sharps dip does hits you, that could be down to the preload setting.
The Engine, chassis, and suspension compliment each other quite well, and it feels at home when the engine is at mid-revs and a bit up top, It flows all together quite well and I believe it would be great for touring and at the same time Fun in the city for those quick power pulls from red light to red light, it feels planted at all times even in the corners (though I didn't push it).
Coming to the brake she feels quite Progressive and suits the character of the bike.
MY Thoughts….
The top model has launched at 2.24 lakh Ex. Showroom Delhi and for that amount this is quite a good bike with all the features and how well it is packaged this is a very compelling offer,
I would also try to get one for the day and ride it for a longer stretch and understand how well it handles the highways and the city.
Talking about the competitors we have Royal Enfield Classic, Honda CB350, Harley-Davidson X440, Jawa 350, Bajaj Dominar 400, Triumph Speed 400, and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
I strongly suggest you to get yourself a test ride and see how she feels for you.
